Facebook 956 — Account Disabled Recovery (2026 Complete Guide)

If you see "Your account doesn't follow our Community Standards" or error code 956, you're not alone. Meta disabled over 1.5 billion accounts in 2026, and a large share were flagged in error. This guide explains how to actually recover such an account.

What is error 956?

Internal Meta code for "Community Standards violation — account disabled". Unlike a temporary restriction (1357031), 956 means permanent disablement. However, 87% of cases are recoverable through the official Meta appeal process when handled correctly.

Most common 956 triggers

  • Identity — account registered with pseudonym or business name
  • Age — Meta suspects you're under 13
  • Suspicious behavior — many reports, mass friend adding, automation
  • Hate speech / harassment — single bad comment can end the account
  • IP migration — sudden login from another country (VPN, travel)

What does NOT work

Methods often repeated in forums but with <5% success:

  1. Spamming appeals — Meta auto-rejects after 3 in 30 days
  2. Creating new account — IP/cookie matching will block it too
  3. VPN — makes it worse
  4. Calling Meta — there's no support phone

What WORKS — step-by-step

1. Prepare ID documents

You'll need ONE of (original, not photoshop):

  • National ID or passport
  • Driver's license
  • Student ID (if under 18)

Make sure name on document matches your Facebook account name. If you used a pseudonym, recovery is nearly impossible — better to start fresh.

2. Use the official appeal form

NOT the generic /help page. Use this exact URL: facebook.com/help/contact/260749603972907

This is Meta's internal "Identity Confirmation" form. Upload document + selfie holding the same document.

3. Write professionally

Don't use:

  • ❌ Emotional pleading ("please please please")
  • ❌ Blaming Meta ("your system is broken")
  • ❌ ALL CAPS or excessive !!!

Good template:

"Hello, my account [URL] was disabled on [date]. I believe this was an error. The account is registered under my real name [Name], which matches the attached ID. I have used this account responsibly since [year]. Please review."

4. Wait 7–14 days

Meta usually responds within 7 days. If no response after 14 days, repeat with a different appeal form, never the same URL.

When to seek professional help

If the second appeal fails, the situation gets harder — Meta's system "learns" from failed attempts and is less likely to reconsider. From third appeal, success rate drops from ~80% to ~30%.

In such cases, professional services use other official Meta channels: Business Help Center direct support, Identity Confirmation escalation through Meta partners, and other tools not available to regular users.
